Health benefits of coconut water!


Coconut water has been used for centuries by people from tropical areas, thanks to its amazing health benefits. Coconut water is regarded as one of the ultimate detox drinks owing to its electrolytes, amino acids, phytohormones, antioxidants, growth promoting factors and age-reversing cytokines. In short, it is not only a tropical beverage that quenches the thirst on a hot day but has also been used successfully as a traditional medicine.

Let’s get to know this miracle drink a little better.


1.Controls blood pressure:

The high content of potassium, magnesium, and vitamin C makes coconut water beneficial for regulating high blood pressure. Potassium is effective in lowering the blood pressure as it aborts the negative impact of sodium. Coconut water is helpful in controlling hypertension.

To lower high blood pressure, just consume a mug of fresh coconut water twice a day.

With its composition of electrolyte, coconut water is beneficial for rehydrating the body that has been dehydrated due to excessive sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting. Likewise, it is a good source of carbohydrate and can help lift your energy level.Besides increasing hydration, coconut water is also gentle on the stomach and hence is used to ease stomach complications like acid reflux, indigestion, and gastroenteritis.

The benefits of coconut water after a workout may just be comparable to those artificially flavored carbohydrate-electrolyte beverages packaged in fancy bottles. With essential minerals and electrolytes, tender coconut water has all the trappings of a hydrating sports drink. Coconut water has been reported to have antioxidant properties, which may aid in neutralizing reactive oxygen species production resulting from long-duration exercise.


3. Great For Diabetics:

There are many medical benefits of coconut water and they include better glycemic control. When tested on diabetes-induced rats, coconut water showed therapeutic potential in lessening blood sugar levels and oxidative stress.


4. Treats Headaches:

Migraines and headaches are largely caused by dehydration. Hence, coconut water can be beneficial for supplying electrolytes to the body, thereby boosting hydration.

In addition, individuals who suffer from migraines usually have low magnesium levels. Being rich in magnesium, coconut water  can be used to prevent and treat migraines.

The benefits of coconut water for weight loss are largely due to the low-calorie content and high nutritional value of this drink. It has zero cholesterol and makes for a great substitute for sodas and other high-on-sugar drinks. It’s a great swap to cut calories. Its natural sugars provide you with energy without causing a crash later on.

The dietary fiber and amino acids in coconut water are beneficial for regulating the blood sugar and improving insulin sensitivity.


11. Diuretic That Is Natural

Coconut water  is a natural diuretic that promotes the production and flow of urine, thereby cleansing the body’s toxins. Likewise, it’s helpful for preventing problems such as urinary tract infections. It is also helpful in dissolving some kinds of stones in the kidneys, eventually flushing them out of the body.

For maximum effect, add some sea salt to a mug of coconut water and then consume it 1-2 times a day. However, you’re advised against drinking coconut water if you have high potassium levels as well as problems with your kidneys functions.


12. Slows Down The Process Of Aging

The cytokinins in coconut water have an anti-aging effect on the cells and tissues. This lowers the risk of developing age-related ailments.

So what are the benefits of coconut water during pregnancy? With so many do’s and don’ts to follow during those nine months, you need something that is good for you and your baby that doesn’t contain caffeine or too much sugar and is not an aerated beverage. Now that’s a big ask! Not only does coconut water meet these criteria, it also contains folate or vitamin B9, a nutrient required to reduce anemia during pregnancy.10

It promotes the health of the fetus and helps new moms produce more breast milk. It also eases common complaints of pregnancy such as slow digestion, constipation, and heartburn. However, do not consume it with a lot of food as it can aggravate nausea.
